Women's Health Physiotherapy
Bentham Physiotherapy Clinic is pleased to offer our new Women’s Health Physiotherapy Service, run by our specialist physiotherapist Liz Davison.
She has had 14 years treating various Women’s health issues including:
This is a very common problem affecting over 2 million people in the UK. It causes you to leak urine when you do anything that increases the pressure on the pelvic floor e.g laugh, cough, sneeze, lift or exercise. It is not just a part of getting older and often it can be helped and in many cases cured by lifestyle changes and using simple pelvic floor exercises that our physiotherapist can teach you. If you are finding it difficult to control your pelvic floor muscles it can sometimes be helpful to try electrical stimulation which can also be provided at the clinic and can be made available for you to treat yourself at home.
Another common problem giving various symptoms including a sudden urge to go to the toilet, or needing to go more than 8 times/day or 2 times/night. Bladder retraining, healthy drinking habits, pelvic floor exercises and electrical stimulation can all help – our physiotherapist can help you with all of these.
Pelvic Floor Exercises can help to strengthen and firm the muscles to help support the organs in cases of mild prolapse.
Pelvic Girdle Pain
(previously known as symphysis pubis dysfunction) during pregnancy, our physiotherapist can give advice, exercises and supply supportive maternity belts to alleviate the pain.
